About Us

Integrated Fire & Security, Inc. is a licensed and bonded low voltage systems specialist. Integrated Fire & Security, Inc. was established in 1979 as K’N’R Electronics, Inc. At that time, our primary focus was on design and installation of Fire Alarm and Emergency Call systems. As time went on, we saw a need for a dedicated service organization to handle inspections, testing, and maintenance of the systems we had installed, as well as to handle the service needs of customers who had their systems installed by others. In 1992, KNR Communication Services Inc. was founded. At this time, we had the two companies under the same roof.
K’N’R Electronics, Inc. eventually branched out to include design and installation of virtually all low voltage systems including the following:

In January of 2004, we merged the two companies under the name of KNR Communication Services, Inc. Then, in July of 2006, KNR Communication Services, Inc. was purchased by two long-time employees; Michael Karpesh and Brian Schnappauf. The company name was changed to Integrated Fire & Security, Inc. (IFS) to better reflect the services we provide.
We offer full CAD capabilities in-house, as well as complete systems design. Our designers are NICET Certified to Level IV, with Level III and Level II field personnel. Our field personnel are also licensed as Power Limited Technicians with the State of Minnesota as well as being members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 110.
IFS is recognized by Edwards Systems Technology as a Strategic Partner. We maintain factory-trained technicians on staff and they are on call 24 hours a day, providing emergency service whenever needed. We can provide complete testing and inspection of all fire alarm devices and control panel functions to comply with the standards of the National Fire Protection Association and your local Fire Marshal.
In 2011 IFS became the Minnesota authorized distributor for Wren Solutions. Wren offers a complete range of turnkey physical security solutions, designed to provide you with convenient access to valuable data for better business decision-making. The solution pulls from several applications including Video, Access Control, and Alarm for better, more informed decision-making. Through a single login, users can access all physical security applications, enabling convenient system administration no matter where they are located.
